Home > Virginia > Putnam County CVB

Putnam County's strategic location between West Virginia's largest metropolitan areas of Charleston and Huntington, is a perfect destination to enjoy the state! Formed in 1848, Putnam County was named after General Israel Putnam, a Revolutionary War hero. Much of the land here was surveyed by George Washington and while we remain very proud of our history, we also are a progressive county with much to offer our visitors. Travel is easy and convenient in Putnam County via I-64 and U.S. Route 35.
