Bellingrath Gardens
Bellingrath Gardens and Home is decorated with a colorful floral array. Before the Bellingrath Gardens and Home Park became what it is today, Walter Bellingrath purchased the 60-acre lot as a fishing camp; it was his wife, Bessie, who turned it into an estate.
Take a walking tour through Alabama's Bellingrath Gardens to gaze at the most exotic floral assortments such as the orchids and birds-of-paradise at the pearly white Conservatory. Or why not check out the Bellingrath Gardens Nature Boardwalk where indigenous plants and endangered species are preserved. The Bellingrath Gardens and Home houses an elegant and tranquil Oriental Garden, which sets one at ease and admiration. Mirror Lake attracts bird lovers with its graceful swans and Canadian geese while bright red and yellow tulips engulf the shore.
And don't forget to take Alabama’s Bellingrath Gardens River Cruise on the Southern Belle, which offers daily sight seeing cruises as well as public and private dinner cruises. Annual must-see events at Bellingrath Gardens include the Treadwell Camellia Classic Car Show during the first Saturday in April and the heavenly Magic Christmas in Lights display beginning at the end of November and continuing through December 31st.
The Bellingrath Gardens and Home bloom a multitude of different flowers that correspond to each season (for example, spring features over 250,00 azaleas!), so there's always a time of year to check out Alabama’s Bellingrath Gardens.
