Georgia Music Hall of Fame

The Music Hall of Fame honors Georgia's vibrant musical heritage and its influence on modern American music. An attraction along the Georgia Music Trail, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame is an essential stop for music-lovers of all kinds. As the official music museum of the State of Georgia, the 43,000-square-foot Music Hall of Fame houses memorabilia, exhibits and recordings from more than 450 Georgia artists. Through a series of permanent displays designed to resemble a town in Georgia, the Tune Town section of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame offers an excellent introduction to a variety of musical genres. The Rhythm & Blues Revue at the museum focuses on such R&B legends as Ray Charles and James Brown, while the Vintage Vinyl Record Store pays tribute to the music of Little Richard, the Allman Brothers Band, Toni Braxton and others. The Skillet Licker Café offers a look at country, bluegrass, traditional and folk music. Other exhibits in the Music Hall of Fame revolve around Gospel, jazz and swing, and music heard in American diners.

The Georgia Music Hall of Fame museum also showcases the Billy Watson Music Factory, an interactive area geared towards children through the fourth grade. Among its attractions is a working keyboard that's built into the floor. A research library and a music store also make their home at the Music Hall of Fame.

Every year, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame hosts a number of special events, such as musical performances during Black History Month and the Live at Five Concert Series.

The Music Hall of Fame opened in 1996.
