Primary destination marketing organization for Sumter County - Andersonville & Jimmy Carter National Historic Sites, 1892 Windsor Hotel, Rylander Theatre, Habitat for Humanity's Global Village and Discovery Center. Americus-Sumter County is located two and a half hours southwest of Atlanta. While agriculture has long been the driving force of the county’s economy, Sumter County’s historical past is attracting tourists. Tourism is the newest industry in the area. The Americus-Sumter Tourism Welcome Center is located in the historic Windsor Hotel.
