Or head for the exciting Global Wildlife Center, where a slow-moving tram allows up-close interaction with giraffes, camels, bison and other exotic animals. Observe alligators in their natural habitat on a tour of Honey Island Swamp, then learn about, even touch, the reptiles at the Insta-Gator Ranch and Hatchery.

Shop the galleries and boutiques of downtown Covington all day, then head to Mandeville’s lakefront, where you can stroll along the seawall and watch the sunset as the boats sail in for the evening.
