There is more to Gainesville than gameday. Within 45 minutes you can paddle a 72 degree spring fed river and then in Downtown Gainesville watching an award winning play at the Hippodrome Theatre.
The University of Florida’s Cultural Plaza is home to The Florida Museum of Natural History. Here visitors will find Florida fossils, the largest collection of moths and butterflies in North America, and much more. Step into the Butterfly Rainforest and walk with butterflies, moths and birds from around the world.
Gainesville’s restaurants truly embrace local and organic food. Some of our favorites include Emiliano’s Café, Blue Gill Quality Foods, and Manuel’s. Being a college town, of course Gainesville has its share of pizza joints. Two of those are definitely a cut above the rest, Blue Highway Pizza and Satchel’s Pizza offering delicious, mouthwatering pies.
The thing that goes best with pizza is beer. Gainesville is home to Swamp Head Brewery. You can find their brews, like Stump Knocker or Big Nose, in local bars and restaurants and you can tour the brewery on Tuesdays.
Come visit Gainesville, the place Where Nature and Culture Meet.
