Top 10 Reasons You Should Visit the MS Gulf Coast

Okay, so we know you definitely don’t NEED a reason to visit- but just in case you were wondering, we’ve compiled 10 not so hidden gems of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

White House Hotel
White House Hotel
1. Southern Comfort

Casino resorts, locally-owned bed and breakfasts, modern beachfronts abound, and our award-winning accommodations are sure to please. We will have you feeling relaxed and refreshed before you can spell out, “M-i-ss-i-ss-i-pp-i.”

 2. Splash Into Fun

With 62 miles of scenic shoreline, it’s easy to find the perfect way to enjoy the water. Jump on a ferry or charter a boat out to one of six barrier islands to swim, sun and experience nature at its most beautiful. Kayak or paddleboard through our peaceful Blueways. Cast a reel in fresh, salt or brackish water and try to catch your dinner.  Enjoy the views by water on a boat cruise and keep your eyes out for dolphins! Or simply put your chair on our white sand beaches and enjoy relaxing in the sunshine.

3. Game On

You can raise your stakes and raise your glass at any one of the dozen casino resorts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our luxurious, full-service casinos with live tables, slot machines, and poker rooms will have you playing all-in, all day.

4. Overabundance of Sweet Tea & Seafood

Dining should be a memory-making experience, and the options along the Mississippi Gulf Coast will prove to be nothing less than remarkable. Get your hands dirty at a shrimp boil, try your first Gulf-fresh oyster on the half shell, or enjoy the catch-of-the-day grilled over an open flame. With a sweet tea, of course.

5. Off the Wall Events

Several unique festivals highlight the heritage of the Mississippi Gulf Coast throughout  the year including Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Events such as the Mardi Gras season, MS Coast Coliseum Crawfish Music Festival, Gulf Coast Winter Classics Horse Show, and Cruisin’ the Coast—we mean, just to name a few.

 6. Step Into The Past

The Mississippi Gulf Coast’s history is just as rich as our scenic views. Take a ferry out to West Ship Island to tour the Civil War era Fort Massachusetts. Stop by Beauvoir, the retirement estate and library of Confederate president Jefferson Davis. Relax aboard the open-air Biloxi Tour Train or stretch your legs with a Bay St. Louis Historical Walking Tour. Check out the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum for an array of artifacts and exhibits about this important coastal industry.

7. Sunset to Sunrise

Here, the sun never sets on fun. Catch a headliner act at one of our casino resorts or a live band at a local juke joint.  Sip a local craft beer made at one of our breweries, while lounging at a beachside bar.  Or dance into the wee hours of the night at one of our nightclubs.

8. Unique Art

Prepare to be awe-struck with our art museums. The Mississippi Gulf Coast has provided artistic inspiration for many nationally recognized artists such as Richmond Barthe, Dusti Bonge, Walter Anderson, and George Ohr.

9. Shopping Adventures

Every vacation has a story to tell and shopping for that souvenir is what it’s all about. From premium outlets to boutiques, antique shops to vintage stores, you’ll find the prefect piece to complete your collection (or tell your story).

The Preserve Golf Club

10. Tee Time

Picture yourself on one of our numerous world-class golf courses created by legendary designers like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Davis Love III, Mark McCumber, Jerry Pate and Tom Fazio. Aside from the award-winning play, you’re treated to sprawling views of the Gulf Coast while surrounded by nature. With near perfect year-round temperatures and courses to suit every taste – and budget – the Coast is the perfect place to play.

We like to make sure you’re having a good time from sun up to sun up. And honestly, that’s not hard to do when you have options like unwinding along our beaches, upping your game on one of our signature golf courses, or shopping followed by, well, more shopping. And our food is the best in the world.

Here, we’re always up for something new. Whether it’s trying your first oyster, finding balance on your paddleboard, catching your dinner, checking out a local art show, or getting lucky at one of our casinos. Heck, you might even find yourself at a blues joint not feeling so blue after all. The only thing you’ll be wondering when you leave is, “when can I come back?”

Everything you need to plan your perfect vacation is right at your fingertips, so get plannin’ and we’ll be waiting for you when you get here.

Stay awhile. You’ll get it.
