The Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour is a 2 ½ to 3 hour exhilarating adventure that offers thrill seekers the unique opportunity to zip through the trees on a network of cables and sky-bridges suspended high above the forest floor, criss-crossing the beautiful Catawba River. The adventure begins by climbing a 70 foot tower, giving you a bird’s eye view of the Catawba River and the surrounding areas! Visitors glide through 100 year-old oaks, poplars and river birches; traverse a sky-bridge; hike three short nature trails and zip across the river 6 different times. Visitors zip up to 25mph on a 900 ft zip and finish the tour with a zip through the wild oak forest at the end of the island. Camp Canaan is a 100 acre island that is an ideal location for meeting groups to get a breath of fresh air. Meeting spaces vary from an outdoor Picnic Pavilion to an indoor Multi-Purpose Building. Groups can enjoy hiking trails or a 9-hole disc golf course to keep the energy flowing!

Several miles of mountain bike trails, packed with rugged and rolling terrain, wind through the scenic natural backdrop of York County, including in the new Riverwalk Community of Rock Hill. Also in that same area is a dynamic collection of recreation amenities that is under construction at the new Riverwalk Community. When completed, these amenities will add approximately 250 acres of public recreation space to the City of Rock Hill’s current parks inventory. The Piedmont Medical Center Trail opened in July 2010 and is available year-round, offering beautiful views of the Catawba River. The first of several cycling venues, the Giordana Velodrome opened in March this year. The 250 meter and 42 degree banked world-class velodrome is endorsed by USA Cycling and will host national and UCI caliber events.

Glencairn Garden is an 11-acre award-winning garden that boasts thousands of azaleas. The garden was expanded in 2009 and includes a Veterans Garden, showcase gardens, tiered fountains, ponds, boardwalks, a performance stage and beautiful flower-filled walkways. In addition to azaleas, visitors can see dogwoods, wisteria, crape myrtles, camellias, annuals, hardwood trees and more. Although it varies somewhat each year, the peak blooming season is typically during late March/early April. The Garden was the original inspiration for Rock Hill’s annual Come-See-Me Festival which has become a 10-day event held each spring at Glencairn Garden and other Rock Hill sites.
