Corinth Area CVB
Corinth, Mississippi – Located in the rolling hills of Northeast Mississippi, Corinth is a small town that was vitally important to the cause of both the Confederate and Federal Armies during the American Civil War.
Here monuments and museums commemorate Civil War history. Visitors have the chance to tour the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, a part of the Shiloh National Military Park; see the sixteen most important square feet in the Confederacy in 1862 at the Historic Corinth Depot; experience the birthplace for freedom for many slaves at the Corinth Contraband Camp; hike to the most well-preserved earthworks in the nation; and view the spot where the Confederate orders were given for the attack on the Federal Army resulting in the Battle of Shiloh. Reenactments and living history demonstrations take place throughout the year as well. The Corinth Grand Illumination lights up the sky in early November with 12,000 luminaries memorializing the casualties from the Siege and Battle of Corinth.
But history is only half the story. For shopping, dining, musical entertainment, Corinth’s quaint downtown district is an attraction in itself. Blocks of specialty shops, antique stores, art galleries and restaurants abound. Join us for Pickin’ on the Square where bluegrass music wafts through the air every Thursday evening. And each first Saturday morning from spring until fall, shop for local treasures and produce at the Corinth Green Market. Enjoy a Slugburger, the local delicacy, and a cherry coke at Borroum’s Drugstore, the oldest family operated drugstore in the State of Mississippi. Special events abound from concerts by the Corinth Symphony Orchestra and plays from the Corinth Theatre Arts to the Slugburger Festival and the Hog Wild Barbeque Festival.
