1. Come and howl with the wolves at Seacrest Wolf Preserve, the largest wolf preserve in the Southeast. This 430-acre preserve is home to Gray, Arctic and British Columbian wolves. Tours include a small animal adventure where you can interact with arctic foxes, raccoons, skunks, coyote and groundhog.

2. Discover what makes Falling Waters State Park so unique. See the tallest waterfall in Florida as it cascades and disappears into a sinkhole. While strolling through the park, you’ll learn of a civil war era gristmill, the first oil well in the state and the 5,000-year history of Native Americans that called these lands home. The park also offers camping, swimming, fishing and other nature based activities.


3. Get invigorated in one of our 70 degree, crystal clear springs. Washington County boasts several beautiful springs. Paddle along the Econfina Creek and discover several springs including Pitt, Sylvan and Williford Springs, which incorporate recreation areas and hiking trails. Holmes Creek is home to two springs including Cypress Spring, a gorgeous second magnitude.


4. Ride over to see the friendly owners at Sunshine Riding Trails. Enjoy an outing on a Tennessee Walker through the beautiful sandhills and forests of the Econfina Creek area. 


5. With a line of their own Conquistador and Muscadine grapes, Three Oaks Winery have created a line of wines that are smooth and refreshing. Along with touring the winery and a free wine tasting, Three Oaks also has “The Grapevine” gift shop.


6. Spanish Trail Playhouse is one of the only all-volunteer theatres in the state of Florida. The playhouse offers several major productions and small musical events a year.  


7. If you like an exciting atmosphere, then Ebro Greyhound Park & Poker Room is the place for you. Take your chance on the races while enjoying a delicious meal. Or if cards are your thing, you can play in one of many poker tournaments.

8. Florida’s first state forest is located in Washington County at Pine Log State Forest. This 6,911-acre preserve houses endangered species and habitats. Featuring miles of hiking, horseback riding, paddling and bird watching trails, you can also camp and fish at the recreation area.


9. Learn local culture at our two historical museums, Washington County Historical Society Museum in Chipley & Vernon Historical Society Museum at City Hall in Vernon. You can uncover historic sites throughout the county by completing the geocaching challenge on the Washington County Heritage GeoTrail.


10. If you enjoy off roading, visit the folks at Hard Labor Creek Off Road Park and The Swamp Off Road Park. Hard Labor Creek Off Road Park features over 50 miles of ATV and dirt bike trails, including two motocross tracks. The Swamp Off Road Park features obstacle courses and a mud bog for ATV’s and side by sides. 


11. Like to hunt? Contact Hard Labor Creek Plantation for premiere quail hunting. The plantation offers a lodge overlooking an 85-acre lake with excellent bass fishing.  


12. For the golfer in the family, there is Sunny Hills Golf Club. This 18-hole course was designed by golf pros Gene Sarazen and Ken Venturi. The clubhouse features a pro shop and grill that serves breakfast and lunch.
