Situated just north of Raleigh and East of Durham, Granville County is just a short drive from the big cities, located right off of I-85 & only 20 minutes from the Virginia state line.  In Granville County you will find a wide variety of activities and events for all ages.  The county features annual events including the North Carolina Hot Sauce Contest in Oxford, the Creedmoor Music Festival and the always entertaining Butner Chicken Pickin’ as well as many more.

 Granville County is comprised of over 537 square miles of land and water, providing endless opportunity for recreation. History: Granville County was founded in 1746 in honor of John Carteret, Earl of Granville.  The area is widely recognized for its oak tree lined streets and stately colonial architecture. Our picturesque towns offer welcoming faces with southern hospitality. The county's rich heritage plays a large part in today's everyday scene. Take a tour of museums like Granville History & Harris Exhibit Hall, George C. Shaw, Masonic Home for Children & Oak Hill area.

 Cedar Creek Gallery is a MUST SEE during your trip to Granville. Located right on the outskirts of Wake and Durham counties, this family run business has been producing hand-made pottery, blown glass and other fine art for almost 50 years. It features over 250 U.S. artists with some having studios right on the gallery’s property. Another attraction is the Granville Little Theatre which has been producing local plays & musicals for over 60 years.  Plays are held in the Oxford City Hall Auditorium.
Agriculture: Did you know that you can buy Alpaca soap, strawberries, Christmas trees and pumpkins all in Granville County? Check out some of our local farms that offer produce, zombie paintball, hay rides, horseback riding lessons, unique event venues and much more.
