Hahira Honey Bee Festival

September 27, 2021 - October 2, 2021

This week-long event has all the tribal fixin’s you’d expect throughout the week then explodes on the weekend with more than 150 vendors covering the small downtown up and down many streets. There is a huge parade (longest in South Georgia), concerts, plenty of family hands-on activities, 5K… and honey all over the place! There are booths aplenty for different styles of honey and the town mascot is a large honey bee located right on the main drag for great photo ops. A new train depot replica next to a real caboose with a large stage and festival seating space is the centerpiece for gathering and enjoying live entertainment. This is the type of festival that undersells and way over-performs. And this festival has such a great “beginning” story. It takes dozens of volunteers and the support of local government and businesses to make this possible in such a small community. But the economic impact is extraordinary. More business hits Hahira during this one week than would over the course of months. A longer-term impact will begin to be noticeable as many people now see not just the festival but also the expanded shopping and dining opportunities in the town and comments far and wide this year were about coming back to hang out and see more of the town when the festival isn’t happening.
