MumFest is an annual fall festival held in the heart of scenic, historic Downtown New Bern, NC. It is a two (2) day, rain or shine event that boasts 300 vendors, more than a dozen street acts including jugglers, stilt walkers, magicians, acrobats, dog stunts, etc. In addition, there is a beer garden with live music, a military helicopter display, amusement rides, and each City Department provides live demonstrations including the canine force, police motorcycle squad, linemen, and bucket rides. One of the most popular attractions at MumFest is the living mum arch and mum maze at Union Point Park, which sits at the confluence of two (2) rivers bordering New Bern’s scenic downtown. In addition, Downtown New Bern has mums lining the streets and the parks during MumFest and the days following the event.
The festival begins with a kick-off concert the Friday night prior to the festival. Approximately 4000 people attend the concert while 300 vendors simultaneously load into the streets of Downtown New Bern and begin setting up their booths which open the following morning at 10 am. Over the last few years, the concert talent has included country artists: Jordan Davis, Brett Young, and Dan + Shay.
