Main Street Columbus and the Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce will again partner in 2021 to provide the Sounds of Summer Concert series, a free concert series in beautiful downtown Columbus on Thursdays in June and July. Sounds of Summer began in 2008 and is held on the banks of the Tennessee Tombigbee River at the Columbus Riverwalk Park, a perfect venue for this popular event, with the background of our newly renovated Old Hwy 82 Bridge. Every other Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm, thousands gather at the popular outdoor concert series to enjoy local musicians, cold beverages, great food, kid’s activities and the company of friends and neighbors. This diverse, quality event continues to grow in popularity each year and has become a vital element of our community life for families. This scenic destination seems to create a feeling of togetherness for a couple hours. We strive to provide a variety of musical types to be of interest to all segments of our community. Attendees bring lawn chairs and blankets, in addition to friends and family, to enjoy this free, family-friendly, community event. Sounds of Summer is supported by numerous community businesses as well as volunteers, who help to make the annual event possible. Cumulus Broadcasting Radio Station will continue to incorporate interactive children’s activities which increase all around family involvement. We expect next year’s Sounds of Summer to be the biggest and best yet. We are honored that the Sounds of Summer concert series has received this prestigious award for the past ten years.
